Today we went on a little adventure, to find a Harley Davidson shop in Rome. Finding things in Rome can be interesting to say the least. Now the last time we were here, we found the shop fairly easily. This time, not so much, When we got to were it was it wasn't there!! We did finally see a faded note indicating that it had been moved to a different address. I was not familiar with the address, so we returned to the apartment to try and figure out (with the help of good old Google maps) just where the new address was. Seems it is on the outskirts of the city and not easily got to by bus. So we won't be going there!
Next I tried to find out if there were other locations in and around the city. I didn't think it would be too hard to find at least one more shop because Italy is the fifth largest purchaser of Harley products. Google searches kept coming up with locations that were no longer operational. Finally a search for worldwide locations on the Harley Davidson website gave me 2 locations here in the city. So now it is off to the one called the boutique to see what we can find. We are not Harley people, but are looking for something for someone else.
Success, we found the Harley store and got what we were looking for. Now to find a bus home. Turns out we had one of those memorable bus tours just like the post Vatican Museum visit one. We ended up in the North East side of the city and toured through the Olympic Park that was built for the 1960 summer games, taking an hour and 1/2 to get home after our shopping. Our plan for later in the day was to tour the National Museum of Oriental Arts near our apartment, but we found out they closed at 2PM today. Drats!! We will try again tomorrow - it's open all day from 9:30 to 7 PM - we should be able to make it.
